Week 11 is here and the deadline is not far from. As I've said multiple times, I'm done with recording and editing and have been for the past few weeks. I thought that Barker would talk over final presentation with us, telling us what we need in it and other things of the sort, so I hadn't started on it. Since I believe that is not the case, I have started it. I'm not sure what to put on it. How do I summarize a 12 week project that I put a lot of work in to?
When I did my pitch, I quickly made a google slides presentation in about 15 minutes. Now, since I actually care, I am doing a prezi presentation. This week I decided I am going to start making my presentation. My movie is 7 minutes long therefore, I couldn't have a long presentation. When I did my pitch presentation, I didn't really know what I was doing. I knew I wanted to make a movie but, I didn't know the logistics of it.
The process was way different than I thought. The hardest part for me was transferring the clips to my devices. If I would've been able to do it faster, I would've been finished way before and had even more free time. This week I was at a lost. I finished my project last week and had nothing to do. A few weeks ago, I was worried because I didn't have the clips sent to my devices yet. Now I have everything done and don't know what to do. I didn't expect my project to be done so fast. It only took me like 4 hours to edit. Editing is something I love to do, when I start there's no stopping me until I'm done. The sound is what I'm worried about though. When I edited a commercial for my Biomed project the music was a little too high and you could barely hear the voices. It sounded fine on my phone but then when It played on the TV at school the audio sounded like that.
This week I finally figured out how to send the video clips from the camera to my devices. I stopped trying to use snapbridge and just took the SD card out and stuck it into my laptop. It took at most 10 minutes to download all 800 pictures and videos. At first I thought it was just loading my options but then I realized it downloaded everything. I only had, at most, 200 videos.
Once I got my clips, I started editing. I worked on it for a good 4 hours straight and then I was done. I had doubts, I thought it was bad but all my friends said it was really good. I don't know what I'm going to do for the remaining genius hour weeks. I've finished everything there is to do. My friends and I have a youtube channel that we don't post on and this inspired us to want to make a tv show or more short films on there. At the start of the week I spent my first day finishing up the new script. I finished it and felt that it was better than all the other ones I had made before. On Tuesday, I filmed for a good 3 hours. Majority of the filming got done and there's only 2-3 scenes left to film. At first when I woke up it was pouring down raining and I was so mad. Luckily, after a few hours, around 12 , it stopped raining. We recorded way faster than we had before, probably due to the fact that we had done this twice before. I fired Chris because I shouldn't have 3 people.
This week I should finish up on filming and then focus my attention on sending the clips from the camera to my phone or to my laptop then to my phone. I've edited on 2 video editing apps my whole editing career. One of them is cute cut pro, I lost my icloud account because I couldn't do the two-factor authentication, even though I knew my Icloud password. If I am unable to get my account I'll have to buy the app all over again. That'll be a waste of money since I had already bought it so long ago but if that's what it comes down to, i'll rebuy it. This week I was watching an episode of victorious; I was inspired to start over. I thought about what I had and I immediately knew I could do better. I wrote a new script, it's suspenseful. The story is a death mystery, was it suicide? Was it murder? Detective J must figure this out.
I finally was able to download the snapbridge app. We are halfway through and I still feel like I have enough time. Editing has always been a hobby of mine and doesn't take a long time for me. We just need to film these new scenes, upload it to snapbride and then edit it. This week I started off by trying to get the snapbridge app again. I couldn't find it on my laptop so I tried downloading it online but I still couldn't find it. I'll have to continue looking for it. If I can't find it I'll have to find someone who has a laptop that can get the app to send it to me through email or another program.
This week I should finish up on filming, I have my lines memorized and the camera is ready. I'm scared for the sound though. When we watched the video back on the camera it sounded like we were in a cave. I have no idea how to fix that problem because I don't have a boom mic and they are atleast $60. It was one of the actors birthday this weekend so we decided to film Thursday instead. Thursday is an early release day so we will have more than enough time to finish recording. As I said before the main problem is that I can't find the snapbridge app. We don't have that many weeks left till times up and I feel like I've barely done anything. This week I will be working my hardest. This week I decided that i did want to do the comedy instead. Instead of a film, it's an episode, that is made like a reality show. The reality show is called Brad and Chad take Mocksville and it focuses on 2 rich boys who move to a "poor' neighborhood. They have to struggle because one of them only has 4 floors and the other one only has 2 maids. In this episode they decide to go to a party where both of Chad's girl friends are going to be.
I decided to switch genres because I'm funny and I think this suits me better than a thriller. I also had to add one more person to my crew, Chris Enriquez, because we needed someone to record while we're both in the screen. We started filming this weekend and we got the intro and scene 1 recorded. The camera went dead in the middle of filming scene 2. While we charged the battery I decided to try to send the other clips to my phone but you can't send videos to your phone from the camera only photos, you have to send videos to your computer. I then tried downloading the app on my laptop but I couldn't connect to Cecilia's WIFI. This week I finished up the script. The plot focuses on an egocentric girl who thinks she's better than everyone. One day she wakes up and realizes that she's in the middle of nowhere. She's surrounded by woods and must find her way back into the real world. However, I think I might try to make a comedy instead because a lot of people do say I'm funny so it should be easy for me.
I have a visual of how I want every scene to play out if I keep going with my current idea. I know what facial expressions I want on the characters faces in every scene and I know what tone of voice I want them to use. I will start filming this weekend so if I do switch to a comedy I will need to work on the new script everyday and I will be right back on track. I told Cecilia, the other actor in this film, to get the camera ready. After all the times we have used it we just realized that it has a battery for charging and that there's no cord. Therefore we had been wasting a bunch of time thinking we needed to find a plug. |
